Maintaining this great park and World War One Memorial as it enters its second century will be  possible only through a vibrant partnership between private donors, the business community, and the City of Jacksonville.

The Florida Fallen

The “Florida Fallen” refers to the more than 1,700 men and women from Florida who died serving in World War I and who are memorialized in this park dedicated on Christmas Day 1924. When the park opened, the list contained just 1,220 names but, thanks to the unstinting efforts of Dr. R.B. Rosenburg, professor emeritus from Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, the list was expanded in 2018.

Spend Your Day in the Park.

Rest. Relax. Recreate. Alone, with a friend, among a group – every day in Memorial Park is a good day. Even amid the fury of a hurricane, Memorial Park draws you in, then leaves you planning your next visit.

The perfect place for a picnic, since 1924.

In just a few short years, Memorial Park will celebrate its 100th birthday. Ever since the Rotary Club of Jacksonville and the Citizens Committee came together in the early 1920s to create a place of honor for those who served and died in World War I – the Great War – visitors to the park have found a reason to spend a few moments or a few hours in this peaceful place.
