Memorial Park to host concert commemorating our fallen heroes
Only park in state dedicated to Floridians who lost their lives in World War I
Jacksonville, Fla. May 2, 2015 On May 24, the Memorial Park Association, in collaboration with the City of Jacksonville, is hosting A Memorial Day Weekend Concert, honoring all Americans who died while in the military service. The Memorial Park Association is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing, preserving and promoting Memorial Park as the premier historic park in Jacksonville. Memorial Park is the only memorial in Florida that is dedicated to the 1,220 Floridians who lost their lives in service during World War I. This FREE event will feature live music by the Navy Band Southeast from 4-6 p.m.
The event will include:
- Patriotic music performed by the Navy Band Southeast
- The Florida Times-Unions MattAboutJax, aka Matt Pittman, as the Master of Ceremonies
- Picnic area where attendees can enjoy the entertainment
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or folding chairs and can bring their own picnic to enjoy during or after the concert. Everyone is also encouraged to wear RED, White & BLUE!

Memorial Park is located at 1620 Riverside Ave., between Margaret Street and Memorial Park Drive in Riverside near the 5 Points area of Jacksonville, Fla. Established in 1986, The Memorial Park Association is a nonprofit charitable organization serving its mission to enhance, promote and preserve Memorial Park as the premier historic park in the City of Jacksonville. Designed by the famed Olmsted Brothers and dedicated on Dec. 25, 1924, it is the only park in the state dedicated to the 1,220 Floridians who lost their lives in service during World War I.
