Vincenzo Guerriero (“Jimmie Ross”)

Boy 1st class. Enlisted in U.S. Coast Guard at Tampa on April 18, 1917, under an assumed name because he was afraid his father would object. Born June 26, 1899, in Potenza, Italy, Guerriero immigrated to the U.S. with his father and two brothers, Rocco and Carmine, in 1909. His father, Giuseppe, a tailor in Tampa, residing at 2908 12th Street, died in 1930. (USCG Service Card; Veterans Administration Master Index)
