Homer Bryan Sumner

Ordinary Seaman. One of nine children of Jefferson Davis Sumner (1862-1906) and Mildred (Mittie) Roberts (1866-1941). Born in Dade City, Florida, December 31, 1899, he moved to Tampa, where he attended Hillsborough High School and worked summers as a clerk for Maas Bros., a leading department store. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard at Tampa December 16, 1916. Address: 207 East Park Avenue, Tampa. (USCG Service Card; Veterans Administration Master Index)
