Bert Hunter Lane

Boy 1st class. Born July 29, 1895, Madison, Florida. Enlisted U.S. Coast Guard at Tampa on April 8, 1917. Bert’s father, Arthur Higdon Lane (1869-1931), worked in the naval stores industry in Pine Mount, Florida, in 1900, and as a carpenter in a shipyard in Jacksonville in 1920. Prior to enlistment, Bert was a driver for Standard Oil Company in Lakeland. Next of kin: Mrs. Ruby Miller Lane (stepmother), 520 North Florida Avenue, Lakeland, Florida.
