Memorial Park Association, Inc. (MPA), a non-profit corporation solely for the purpose of the restoration and preservation of the park, was created in 1986 by a group of park enthusiasts and local philanthropists concerned with its persistent state of decline and disrepair. In 1987 MPA entered into an Adopt-a-Park Agreement with the City of Jacksonville that has since enabled it to perform various operations and maintenance functions, including necessary physical improvements, consistent with the historical character of the park and concurrent with the City’s obligation to maintain Memorial Park for the greater public good.
With no paid staff and an all-volunteer board of dedicated directors, the Association encourages community participation in its volunteer and donor base, promotes the park to citizens and visitors across the region, and works to perpetuate the beauty and character of Memorial Park for generations to come.
